Words And Brushes Writing Competition 2016


Collaboration II! Short stories inspired by an artwork of your choice (between 2000 and 5000 words) are wanted.
Use your imagination to create a story inspired by an artwork. Selected stories will be published with writer’s credit in a future project.

Guidelines
You are invited to write a short story between 2,000 and 5,000 words, single spaced with a 12 pt. font.
The judges’ top selection will receive a cash award and will be published on our web site with credits. Our vision is to publish an art book that is a collaborative work between writers and artists.
This competition is open to all published and unpublished writers. There are no geographical restrictions on entry. Select one or more paintings from the image gallery and use your creative prowess to write a short story around that piece.
Participants may enter as many stories as they like.
CollaborationII – Deadline June 15, 2016.
Submitted work must be in English, original, entirely the work of the entrant and must never have been previously published in any form. Any entry found to have been plagiarized will be disqualified.
Your work must not currently or previously have been the subject of a publishing agreement with any publisher.
Selected winners will be published and given writer’s credit and featured on our website. Winner of our CollaborationII contest will be notified by email and announced on this website on or around August 15, 2016.

Your name
Country of origin
Artwork chosen by name
Title of your short story
Number of words
Send your entries to team@wordsandbrushes.com. Attach a Word Document, PDF (or equivalent). IMPORTANT: The title of your attachment should be your name and the title of the art piece selected (example- Janedoe_midnightblue). Please also add your name to the story.
The judges’ decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into regarding final decisions.
