2016 Crystal Muslim Organization Essay Competition



Entries are hereby requested for the 10th edition of the CMO annual essay competition. There are lots of great prizes to be won, and the best writer in each category will, Insha Allah, have the opportunity to present his/her paper at the seminar.


CMO is aimed at promoting the better understanding of Islam among Muslims and non-Muslims. It also seeks to build a media conscious generation of Muslim youths that will be able to set the records right, make rejoinders and publications in the interest of Islam and Muslims.


CMO is presently achieving its primary goal through its annual essay competition for Muslim youths. The essay competition has been on for five (5) years. Since inception, CMO has given away prizes worth millions of naira and including a Hajj Seat in its 5th Annual Essay courtesy of one of our generous Muslim donors.

Category B (age 13 – 17): Importance of Islamic banking to the economic growth of a nation


Category C (age 18 and above): Islamic finance as a solution to modern day economic challenges. Discuss

Guidelines
The word count for the categories are: Category A is 200 – 250; Category B is 350 – 500; and Category C is 1000 – 1250.

Every essay must include a contact address, phone number and email address of the writer.
A seminar and prize giving ceremony will hold on May 14 2016 at Crescent Schools, 1004 Housing Estate, Victoria Island, Lagos, where prizes will be awarded.
Three (3) winners will emerge from each category.
The first prize winner in each category will have the opportunity to present his/her paper at the seminar venue.
The marking criteria are: Adherence to recommended size of essay (10), Introduction (5), Grammar/Word usage (10), Content (20), Spelling (15), Relevance to the topic (10), Reference from the Qur’an & Sunnah (20), Neatness (5), Conclusion (5)
